Bacon Salt: never leave home without it, part I

Justin and I have learned through experience to always bring Bacon Salt with us wherever we go. Somehow, we end up running into people that are helpful to us in some way, and they always want a taste. Here’s one story from this weekend – Justin has another one that’s even better that he will share soon.

While I was at a 2 year old’s birthday party with my family, one of my conversations turned to what I’m doing with myself. Eventually,  I told the woman I was speaking with about my consulting business, and of course, Bacon Salt.

“Have you met Eric? He owns a salsa company.” So I started talking with Eric, who owns the company that makes Penny’s Salsa, which is distributed up and down the west coast all the way to Colorado. Hidden in our baby bag (I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old) were containers of Original and Peppered, just in case. I pulled out the Bacon Salt so he could try it and he absolutely loved it, in fact, he couldn’t stop eating it. “You’re going to sell a ton of this,” he told me. Overall, he was incredibly helpful and will definitely be making some connections for us.

Word spread quickly at the party, and pretty soon I was surrounded by almost a dozen people with outstretched hands. The feedback was great. Here are some examples:

  • One 12 year old girl, who’s dad said she didn’t even like bacon, took a taste – and then asked for another, and another.
  • The host, a woman I’ve known for a long time but haven’t seen in awhile tried it as well and said “that is so good.” Every time I saw her after that, she was grabbing another handful of Original and saying, “Dave, that is so good.”
  • The grandfather of the birthday girl tried it and said, “holy cripes that’s good!”

In all, about 20 more converts to Bacon Salt, all wanted samples to take home and cook with. Just call me a Bacon Salt evangelist…
