Bacon in your booze

Since the idea for Bacon Salt started with a bourbon and bacon drink called the Mitch Morgan, it’s appropriate that people are sending in drink recipes as part of the recipe contest. Here are just a couple:

Bacon Mary:

1 1/2 ounces vodka

1 cup Spicy Hot V8 Juice or standard tomato juice

1/2 teaspoon of Peppered Bacon Salt  (or to taste)

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

Worcestershire sauce to taste

Tabasco to taste

1/2 teaspoon of prepared horse radish (or to taste, optional)

1 crispy slice of bacon for garnish (place across the rim not in the

drink)

1 lemon wedge for garnish

(thanks to Robert for sending that in)

Bacon Shots

Yes, a shot that does taste like bacon, sent in by Robin, who served it at a 16,000 person event – and ran out quickly. I tried quite a few of these last night after my fantasy football draft party, and think that Hickory was the best but all of them were good from what I can remember – it’s all a little foggy.

my favorite recipe so far has to be:

one part Vodka

one part water

Bacon Salt to taste

We created the shot as a joke, but it cought on quick. It was a shot that tasted just like bacon, and people loved it (hundreds of people). And soon, I was out of Bacon Shots, and Bacon Salt.

A few other people have suggested Bacon Salt-rimmed margaritas and we’ve done the bourbon, water and Bacon Salt combo (a mock Mitch Morgan) a couple of times now as well. If you have other great drinks, please send them to recipes@baconsaltblog.com!

If you’d like to get these in your email, you can subscribe via email using the box in the upper right.
